    Condolences on both fronts. Never easy to lose an animal…especially a horse that has been such a great companion over the years. May they both walk happy trails in the sky.

    Love that you’re a Cowboy that rescued the snake. I actually live in both worlds (herping and ranching) here in Texas and they very rarely coexist peacefully. The snake typically gets misidentified as something venomous and meets a shovel on the spot. That was a bad ass Cal King you moved to safety

    Would it be harder or easier if you just used a normal rope instead of an actual lariat rope. I’m trying to figure out if I can just use a normal rope or not

    • @CenPapi
      @CenPapi Год назад

      Technically you could do it with a normal rope, but it'll be much more difficult; the stiffness of a lariat rope really helps to keep the loop open to get it around what you're trying to rope.

    Break the process down into small pieces. Get the horse confident with each piece. Put it together. You are not giving the horse release of pressure when she does the right thing. A horse learns on the release of pressure.

    You are doing that way too fast. It is a process. Break it down into many small segments. As the horse gets very confident with all of the small steps, then put it together. It can take weeks to get a horse very confident with hobbles. Pressure and release. You are not giving the horse enough release. The horse learns on the release of pressure. And that needs to be done with proper timing, rhythm, and feel. The slow way is the fast way.
